Moving Up: 8 DSL and Complex League Prospects Ready for Promotion in 2027

The 2027 DSL and Complex League prospects on this list own the strongest promotion forecasts in the Prospect Baseline model. Four currently play in the Dominican Summer League and project to reach the Complex League. The other four have performed well in the Arizona or Florida Complex League and are positioned to advance to Single-A.

These early promotions require more context than a strong batting line or a low ERA. Age, plate discipline, command, physical development and sample reliability all matter. Prospect Baseline screened for High model confidence, complete data quality and verified scouting context before selecting these eight players.

2027 DSL Prospects Most Likely to Reach the Complex League

Moving from the DSL to a United States complex introduces better pitching, new routines and a more demanding development environment. These four players have produced enough to warrant that challenge.

Francisco Renteria, Phillies OF (97.6% promotion probability)

Renteria made the DSL look too small. At age 17, he batted .379/.470/.682 with 11 home runs and 24 steals in 53 games. His 14.4% walk rate and 15.3% strikeout rate showed that the production came with real control of the strike zone. Power, speed and plate discipline give Renteria the strongest stateside promotion case in this group.

Stiven Marinez, Yankees SS (96.1% promotion probability)

Marinez filled nearly every column with a .315/.444/.545 line, eight homers and 39 steals. He also drew 41 walks while striking out 31 times. Marinez was 19, which gave him an experience advantage over many DSL opponents. It also makes the path forward clear. He showed too much polish to benefit from another full season against the same level of competition.

Santiago Solarte, Marlins SS (95.1% promotion probability)

Solarte delivered the loudest power and speed combination on this list. He hit 10 home runs, stole 42 bases and finished with a .339/.450/.598 line in 52 games at age 17. His 26.3% strikeout rate remains the concern. Better stateside pitchers will attack that weakness, but Solarte has already earned the opportunity to make the adjustment.

Jaider Suárez, Royals SS (92.9% promotion probability)

Suárez created pressure without relying on home run power. He reached base at a .508 clip, drew 35 walks against 29 strikeouts and stole 30 bases in 43 games. He hit only two homers, so his future impact remains tied to contact, patience and speed. Those three skills already give Kansas City a strong reason to move him stateside in 2027.

2027 Complex League Prospects Most Likely to Reach Single-A

A promotion from the Complex League to Single-A brings travel, longer stretches of games and opponents who can adjust from series to series. These four players look ready for their first assignment in full season baseball.

Johnny Slawinski, Angels P (95.2% promotion probability)

Slawinski struck out 82 hitters in 54 innings, recorded a 3.33 ERA and walked only 2.8 batters per nine. His ability to miss bats while limiting free passes produced the strongest Complex League forecast. The remaining question is workload. Single-A would allow the Angels to stretch him beyond 12 starts while testing whether his command holds over a longer season.

Marconi German, Nationals IF (94.0% promotion probability)

German’s .246 average hides the strongest part of his season. He reached base at a .425 clip, walked in 21.0% of his plate appearances and hit seven homers in 50 games. His 24.2% strikeout rate leaves room for improvement. Even so, his patience and power give him a solid foundation for the more consistent challenge of Single-A pitching.

Daniel Rodriguez, Rangers SS (92.7% promotion probability)

Rodriguez built a balanced case for promotion. At age 18, he hit .302/.393/.490 with four homers, five triples and 13 steals in 46 games. No single tool carried the performance, which makes the overall profile encouraging. The sample covers 175 plate appearances, so Single-A would provide the longer evaluation that his first professional season earned.

Eli Pitts, Reds OF (91.8% promotion probability)

Pitts paired a .299 average with a .500 slugging percentage and kept his strikeout rate to 18.7%. Most of his damage came through 12 doubles and four triples rather than home runs. Single-A will show whether that gap power develops into more home run production. His contact ability and extra base impact already support a full season assignment.

Why These Rookie Ball Promotions Matter in 2027

Each player reached this point through a different strength. Renteria offered the most complete offensive performance. Suárez controlled the strike zone and changed games with his speed. Slawinski overpowered hitters, while Rodriguez succeeded through balance.

The next assignment will answer a different question for each group. The four DSL prospects must prove that their production can travel stateside. The four Complex League prospects must carry their skills through the schedule and constant adjustments of full season baseball.

Promotion dates will depend on health, roster space and each organization’s development plan. Still, these eight players enter 2027 with the strongest high confidence cases to move up.
